Award-winning artist, Clarice M Shirvell, long time resident of Ridgefield, CT, is well known for her accomplishments in both pen and ink drawings, and paintings inspired by nature. Her artwork has been purchased for both private and public collections and has been in over 50 solo, juried, and group shows in both museums and galleries throughout the tri-state area.
A graduate of Marymount College with a bachelor’s degree in both Studio Art and Business, the artist sketches daily in pen and ink and paints plein air as a form of meditation.
Shirvell was selected as 2020 Artist in Residence at Ridgefield Guild of Artists, won the 2022 Artful Grant that concluded with a solo show “Quiet Moments” at RPAC Gallery, and has curated and hung numerous shows throughout Connecticut. She works in her Ridgefield studio illustrating children’s books and working on commissions and works for upcoming exhibits.
In addition to Clarice’s prolific artistic output, she is a passionate teacher of both The Artist Way Study Groups and Painting for All Levels in Oils and Acrylics. Her method of “How to See” is a meditative practice and improves techniques to bring one’s art to the next level.
